The Nottingham
Trent University
Teaching in the
Faculty of Science and Land Based Studies achieved maximum scores
for quality in 1999, putting The Nottingham Trent University in top
position for the excellence of its science subjects. The Quality
Assurance Agency (QAA) awarded teaching of physics and molecular and
organismal biosciences maximum scores of 24 points. These are
matched by an Excellent chemistry rating. The Faculty’s research
profile is high, biosciences in the area of biomedical sciences and
associated subjects gaining a 5 in the 2001 Research Assessment
Exercise.

Thames Valley
University offers a wide range of programmes in computing,
multimedia computing & IT. We have excellent specialist facilities
including a dedicated Creative Technology Centre. Each campus has a
Learning Resource Centre (LRC) to provide library, computing and
media services. There are around 550 fully networked, open-access
workstations. There is also full internet and remote database access
and an extensive stock of specialist books and journals. Each LRC is
staffed by specialist advisers dedicated to helping you use the
available resources effectively. The international office is there
to offer help specifically to international students.

Kingston

Kingston Business
School is one of the UK’s largest providers of management and
business education. We offer a range of postgraduate courses from
general management programmes such as the MBA to specialist Master’s
degrees across all the main functional areas, including finance,
marketing, human resource management, law and business information
technology.
Kingston Business
School is based on a pleasant woodland campus near the main centre
of Kingston upon Thames. We are close to London, around 10 miles
away, while the parks and commons of the Surrey countryside are also
nearby. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are easily accessible by rail
or road.

Glamorgan
Glamorgan’s
Business School is the largest in Wales, one of the UK’s largest,
and has earned a reputation for its teaching quality. In terms of
business and management courses, Glamorgan in ranked number 11 in
the UK in The Guardian’s University Guide, and is among only
20 UK business schools to have received Excellent rating from the
QAA.
Although it is the
top new university for business and management, Glamorgan prides
itself on its accessibility. You will find a warm and welcoming
atmosphere. Your lecturers understand your needs as an international
student but will also encourage you to assert yourself as an
independent thinker.
The MBA programme,
as you would expect from a quality business school, only accepts
applications from professionals with at least three years management
experience. With 30 students in this year’s cohort there is time and
space for participants to benefit from sharing in the wealth of the
group’s combined knowledge and experience. All programmes commence
in September each year and the MSc Marketing & MSc Entrepreneurial
Practice also commence in January.
The School offers
an MBA as well as MSc programmes in Accounting, Entrepreneurial
Practice, Management of Strategic Human Resources, Marketing,
Management and Management and Development of International Financial
Systems.

The University of
Ulster
has five Faculties: the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Business and
Management, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Life and
Health Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences. Within each
Faculty is a number of Schools. Each course (programme of study) is
located within a School.
Undergraduate
degree courses usually last three years (or four, if they include
periods in professional placements or overseas study). These courses
lead to the award of a degree or an honours degree. Honours degrees
are classified as first class, second class (upper or lower
division), third class or unclassified.
Postgraduate
taught courses usually last one year, although for those students
studying a linked postgraduate course - Certificate/Diploma/Masters
- the duration may be three years. As with undergraduate courses,
formal assessment will normally take place at the end of each
semester. If you are undertaking postgraduate study by research, you
will be allocated a supervisor(s) with experience in your chosen
topic.
